Rode all over town on Sarah's small but speedy Trek, destination St. Vincent de Paul to pick up old Kingdome usher jackets. Long ride back along the water, I pause at public space between boat terminals and seafood restaurants. The expanse of deck is vacant except for an old man in an electric wheelchair. It makes me feel a mix of pity and dread to see someone so confined until standing still looking at the mountains I realize neither one of us is moving and that makes it all all right. this is a picture of defunct fremont city people's shopwindow signpaint casting a shadow. it is beautiful, no?
