I knew it was coming but
it still hurt to see it go.
For months after Matthew and Gwen were evicted
from their charming Craftsman rental so that
Hertz could extend its equipment storage lot,
I would look to see if the house were still
standing as I pedaled to work along the
Burke-Gilman in the morning. It was always a
kind of relief to see the pyramidal roof of
the small square white house.
Well, today it was gone, and judging from the
debris, it didn't look as
if everything which could have been salvaged
was. Too bad.
