Sarah had a little bit of a meltdown yesterday. The weather's been shittier
than expected and the two village groceries aren't up to our needs. But
today was at least partly sunny and we rode bikes to a supermarket in
Kutna Hora where they had kilos of "soy meat" and fresh produce. It's
mostly the same as in the US, but all the soy products (even the milk) are
dehydrated and significantly cheaper. You weigh your own veggies on a
scale that spits out price stickers and whose picture buttons are a
good way to learn some food vocabulary. Instead of
standing, the cashiers sit in swivel chairs and
twist rhythmically as they sweep the
goods over the scanner,
