today
i observed people
from great distances:
the 5th floor balcony
of honza's apartment
looking long across
a wide street and
down a short block--
the couple was tiny
but the gestures
of their conversation
had me convinced.
then from the top
of the same building
leaning over the roof
terrace railing where
far below a woman
stood hands on hips
in a more or less
vacant lot staring
into a tree waiting
(for what?) before
finally turning and
looking up at me
who now to her
was as small as
she seemed to be. |
