I remember the 1970s. When my babi
would go back to visit Czechoslovakia she'd
bring calculators,
bubblegum, and blue jeans--items scarcely to
be had behind the Iron Curtain. Thirty years
later, the Czechs
have achieved total jeans victory. That's
globalization for you. Also globalized at
this keg party in a public
park was the supermarket food, pop
music, and corporate logos some people wore.
Swoosh! Everything's going global,
including the next war. When the economy
goes soft, the big boys bring on the bombs.
That's what makes them so hard.
