Nickelsville is a refugee camp for people displaced by the Class War in Seattle. Nickelsville 1 was built with permanence in mind on public land, but eponym Mayor Greg Nickels, true to his campaign promise to end homelessness in Seattle, enjoined the Seattle Police to slash, smash and trash the compound. The persecuted took flight and found sanctuary on church grounds in the U. District, but after 5 months were forced to move on. This is Nickelsville 3, way down in Renton at the bottom end of Lake Washington.
Their 3-month term at a Methodist Church is about up.
All that the 63 people gathered here ask is a piece of
land and a chance to build a permanent community.
The only bailout they want is a vacant lot.
