had a great day
forgot my phone at home
and felt a
forgotten lightness
the freedom of
disconnection
i caught myself reaching
for it
the itch of a phantom
limb
but quickly got over
it
after
work
john
& i
went
to
add-a-ball
like
stepping back
in
time more ways
than one
vintage
pinball and
video games in
the rustic
basement of
oldtime office
building or
was it a
warehouse
once?
anyway
it feels like
you're in a
friend's
garage and
outside on the
astroturf
across alley
from landmark
foundry
new
connections
were made as
strangers
introduced
themselves by
ways of poems
they'd written
and the
conversations
tilted and
veered but always
stayed cordial.
it reminded me
of the way
this
neighborhood
used
to be, the
easy feeling
and camaraderie
before Fremont
was branded,
packaged, &
parted
out
then
i
went home and
ate peanuts,
threw shells
on the carpet
and refused to
look at any
screen.
