Day two of the great honey harvest of 2014. There's a lot of it! Yesterday we pulled 25 frames, today another 30. That's 5 hives down, 11 to go. It's a lot of work but fascinating and satisfying. Sarah's got the touch and never gets stung whereas I manage to find a way every time. Today it was by not zipping my veil all the way shut. Suddenly there was a buzzing in my beard and an all-too-familiar fiery stab right on my chin. As I scrambled to get out of my gear another got me on top of the head. Who knows, it might have been that bee in the lower right corner. Luckily I'm not allergic but it's enough to wake me in the middle of the night and leaves me literally scratching my chin. |
