AMUSE YOURSELF BY MOUSING OVER THIS
PICTURE
|
After
more than a year of planning and a shocking
amount of work involving 40+ artist/teams
and scores of volunteers, Sarah Kavage and
Nicole Kistler threw open the gates at "The
Estuary" tonight for the opening reception
of Duwamish
Revealed. It was a picture perfect
evening to stroll in the shadows of Christian
French's hulking
but languid shipping container sculpture,
listen to Mark
Johnson's resounding installation, and
watch the premiere of Berlin artists Klaas
Hübner and Lysandre
Coutu-Sauvé's performance Clear.
The sun set as Lori
Goldston bowed an amplified cello
hauntingly but few attendees seemed to
notice, which seemed kind of fitting as the
river exists for most at the periphery of
Seattle's consciousness, a mere conduit for
industry better not looked at up close. The
aim of Duwamish Revealed is to bring it
front and center, if only for the summer...
but hopefully much longer.
