Went to a Cascadia Now!
meeting tonight. It's less about secession than it
is about building parallel alternatives to systems
that have become too large, inefficient, and
dangerous. A lot of good ideas in the room, I only
hope there's time for them to come to fruition.
We talked about branding and that got me thinking it
might be a good idea to borrow a play from the other
side. Somehow the right got a lock on mom and apple
pie when it's the lefties who adhere more closely to
the Constitutional values that make America America.
It really shouldn't be a question of left/right, but
those are the terms of the present argument, with
the alt-right clearly on the side of shredding the
document that defines us as a nation, so I wanted to
reappropriate all-American iconography as a reminder
that true patriots fight for the Bill of Rights.
What do you think?
[update: Forget
left/right! Can't we find common ground in mutual
defense of the Bill of Rights?]
