I killed my first
Facebook account years ago, then for some obscure
reason I re-upped and started over from scratch.
I regret the time I spent fretting over it, months'
worth of hours I could have applied elsewhere, even
here.

This is the first time I'm embedding
a Facebook post here, and it will probably be the
last.
I remind myself that Facebook is a business; it's
axiomatic they strive to get more than they give.
I was lured by the promise of gaining exposure for
my work, but for that to be at all effective you
must pay.

And of course there's the data
collection, profiling, and non-consentual behavioral studies.
Social media is a euphemism for social engineering.
I'm not saying it's conscious cause and effect, but
they are rewiring the way we think and interact. So
I think it's time to say bye-bye and reconnect in
more tangible ways. |
