the paradox of sailing is
those clear sunny days you most want to be
out on the water tend to lack the wind you
need to get moving. that was probably for
the best today--missing the bolt that
attaches the tack to the boom, i
bought metal skewers at local grocery,
pushed 'em through grommet and twisted
together, wrapped the whole mess in gold
duct tape so it wouldn't tear the
sail. given the calm, a paperclip would
have sufficed. newly purchased used 4hp
4-stroke motor from jeff
purred and burbled like a dream and the glassy surface cloud
reflections on
lake washington alone were worth the price
of admission. for a shakedown cruise it
was mighty
smooth.
