in the morning we gathered
around the dining table and
practiced
lashing with small
sticks and twine, then went
out to glean straight fallen
tree limbs from 1 to 3 inches
in diameter and 6 feet long to
lash a pole frame for thatching
demonstration and practice.
we debarked them with a
drawknife, as shown
here.
i also worked on some pegs,
using a shaving horse for
the
first time. one of its legs fell
off but i didn't have to shoot
it; just reattached it and got
right back on. pascal showed
us a sample of his
animation
work. it was a day of gentle
labors and small
wonders but
we all got pretty tuckered out.
