i'm working in a 1920's building,
wavy out-of-plumb walls but a
sense of permanence that's
lacking in a lot of newer
structures. well, that's ok,
this too shall pass. until then
i'm satisfied to add to its stately
presence--phase one of a custom
built-in
cabinet and bookcase.
i never had faith in the system,
aspired instead to some form
of self-sufficiency--not a prepper
extreme, but baseline competency
in an essential craft. learning simple
things is difficult, but i paid my dues
and now i can build and fix some stuff.
not just for my own benefit but to be
of use to others when the time comes...
