Been a
good year for seeing music documentaries
in movie theaters--Sparks Brothers, Summer of Soul,
and tonight's Fire Music (2018), screened in
the cozy
embrace of Seattle's cinephile hideout, the
volunteer
run Grand Illusion, an
old-fashioned revival house. It
did feel like a resurrection of sorts, first time
out in a
group this large to catch a flic since the big
Before.
Jesse, Linda, Matt, Thomas, Sarah, and I filled one
whole row, while unexpected co-moviegoers Mark
Sullo and Amy Denio sat down across the
aisle. 'Twas
my first light rail trip to the new U District station--it's
smooth! On the way home we
got lucky and caught
a well-timed
transfer to the 10, shaky
bus free jazz!
