as a child of the cold war era, empty supermarket
shelves symbolized the failings of the soviet
system. now we here in the land of plenty are
getting used to similar shortages.
the causes might be different--corona, bad weather,
etc--but the effect is about the same.
want a covid test? try next week. how about some
catfood? we're waiting for the truck.
but there's still plenty of overpackaged
processed food-in-name-only to feed your
child.
problem with communism is it never works as
intended; problem with capitalism is it does.
