today i
literally went to town, adding my
dab of human grease to The Machine.
oil change then dump run, i waited &
watched clouds whose imperceptible
changes moved
faster than the line
at olympic
view transfer station,
same utilitarian architecture as
factory, warehouse, or big box
store, consumer cycle complete.
at mitchell's,
a simple question
led to 15 minute conversation
on pros and cons of various
fasteners. then groceries. when
i got home i was tired out of all
proportion to the day's mild
exertions, but when i emptied
my pockets i felt lighter,
relieved of wallet and
keys--that ball and
chain binding me
to the grind adds
a lot of weight. |
