here in the Great Bend of Hood Canal, in the lee of the southern tip of Olympic mountain range, we reside in a kind of vortex, a dynamic microclimate of shifting winds and ocean-effect precip that defies weather forecasts--like today's abrupt turn from clear skies to sudden sunshowers that threatened to douse the brushpile fire we'd just ignited. recently leafed-out trees provided some cover as we were treated to our first rainbow, raindrops lit by low sun falling like sparks from the sky. |
