held the first saturday of
july, the Tahuya
Day
Parade is corny but
authentic. it's how
this fringey
community
celebrates itself:
chiefly through
burbling engines,
promotions for
local business, and
pelting bystanders
with candy. it felt
like the '70s, naive
and hopeful. and
to think we might
have passed on
going were it not
for min &
jo, visiting
from big city Seattle.
we followed it up with a
swim--another timeless activity.
