i
met Michael Gates in 1992 at poetry school where
the first poem he shared was about a guy pushing
his palm into a pile of dogshit so it's no
surprise we became friends. he later introduced me
to my future wife and then officiated when we took
the plunge. he and his dude Toby came out
from Pittsburgh to watch the solar
eclipse with us here in aptly named Sunbury,
where Sarah's parents live in the path of
totality. celestial events are excellent catalysts
for reunions and dinner was a joyful affair,
followed by a bonfire big as the sun.
