with the climate so off-kilter, summer now comes
wrapped in a sense of foreboding:
will there be killing heat, wildfires, or drifting
smoke that forces everyone indoors?
locally, we've bucked the
global trend, with days on end of below
average temps,
but today was a touch warmer than normal and the
sky hazed over a little with
smoke from distant fires, the merest hint of the
worst we could have expected.
nonetheless, it was a nice day! newlyweds sue and
igor came down from port
angeles for a quick overnight visit. sue and sarah
went the
distance on SUPs
while on shore
igor and i were treated to a sun dog. the sky
provided more
spectacle after
dark--the "shooting stars" of the perseids
meteor shower.
