in
today's edition
of home repair roulette,
i was watering the garden when i
noticed the grape vines needed room
to wander and climb, so i dropped whatever
i'd intended to do and started improvising an arbor
using
one of sarah's old armature prototypes and
some weathered
trellis pieces we scored off a free list. i never
bent wood before,
as evidenced by this kludgy first pass weighting
with hammers and bungees
before graduating to a more methodical approach clamping
from arch
top to ends,
soaking the slats with garden hose every step
and then fastening with 1/4"
carriage bolts.
