today is Kurt Vonnegut's 103rd birthday--too bad he did not live to see it. i've been re-reading his novels in order via this 4 volume box set from the non-profit publisher Library of America. (thanks, jennie & bill!) in just weeks i'm up to Bluebeard, his twelfth. i remember buying it when it first dropped and have read it at least 6 times since. this page hits hard as i wonder if i'm also no more than a taxidermist--an amateur, at that! |
