i was pretty nervous about this inaugural Quality Film Club screening.
what if no one shows up? what if there's a technical
glitch? what if the post-film discussion is a dud?
as lead organizer, i felt the weight of it, and
though it might seem trivial compared to the more
militant mobilization that's called for at this
moment, it still seems important to nurture
community around a common interest, and it was
heartwarming to see a roomful of strangers come
together to share their perspectives on a film that leaves so much open to
interpretation. in a time of collapse, it is a
beginning.
