Built
to Spill saved my life in winter '96, a time when i was neglecting the
most important thing in life--friends. At the time I was working on
a novel in a brooklyn garret, four months with
the Mac, I didn't even make time to have fun in the famous blizzard. My
subconscious tried to make me brave the D/Q to Manhattan frolic by having
me drop my car key in the snow, Powerbook still in the backseat of locked
Honda. Instead of heeding the sign, I paid $100 for a locksmith
housecall, thinking in my mind that 3 days snowed-in was just the isolation
i needed to finish but i didn't finish and i stayed inside until
THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH LOVE
came along and melted the snow. |
