I rode the 5 downtown to an appointment at the DOT. On the way we passed a line snaking around the block, people w/ folding chairs camped out to be the first to see the new Star Wars at Cinerama. I remember the excitement in '77 before anyone knew who Harrison Ford was and Mark Hamill was on his way to stardom. We stood in line then, too. The second time I went to see it w/ my step-father we walked in halfway through and stayed in our seats during the brightly lit interval between showings as the ushers came through with their brooms. |
