I brought John Berry
a fine sandwich from The Dock.
That's the least one can do for an
artist working on a
public commission, this one at the
Interstate 5 under-
pass near 66th Street in Seattle.
He's painting
several
roadside columns a reflective silver,
above which he'll
adhere foot-high letters to spell out a
couple of para-
doxical statements lifted from Richard
Farina:
THE STATEMENT ON THE OTHER SIDE IS TRUE
Then, when you walk around to the other
side...
THE STATEMENT ON THE OTHER SIDE IS FALSE
It's a little something to think about.
Eventually, there's
going to be a skatepark here. I look
forward to that day. |
