It had been
over a year since I'd been on an
airplane. This one never got off the ground.
Iris answered
a casting call, got the role plus a job doing warddrobe for From
Concentrate, a low-budget featurette being shot here in Seattle. She
asked if I could build sets. Knowing my limits, I said no but recommended
Dave the Wizard. Dave got the job and called
me several days later in need of emergency labor. That I could do, so I showed
up at the rented house in
Georgetown and we got to it. We worked long and hard,
figuring it out as we went along. Melamine hardboard, frosted acrylic, and
7 left-handed rows of bus seats rented from Grayline Seattle. Lag bolts,
2x4s and self-boring screws. Lunch and dinner at the
Marco
Polo, which is worth a visit if only to see the wood-spoked cantilevered
canopy above the bar. Done.
