igor broke his foot skateboarding
and has been laid up for weeks with
5 steel pins holding his bones together.
sarah and i bussed over with soup and salad,
a light dinner which went well with the single
malt scotch and cuban rum he offered us.
his teen daughter josie helped me with the dishes
afterwards. she told me about a teacher of hers who
at first seemed weird but in the end turned out to be cool.
everybody's weird, i said, it's just some are better at hiding
it.
you can probably trust the weird ones more; they've got fewer defense
mechanisms.
there was a
momentary pause in the kitchen
as the unexpected truth of this started to sink
in. |
