| ...That's the cheerful thought I fell asleep on last night after seeing premiere screening of Ground Noise & Static, an alarming account of what transpired outside the arenas at both the Democratic and Republican National Conventions this summer. Citizens who came to ask redress of their complaints were arrested en masse and journalists--independent and corporate alike--were targeted for detainment so that the story of the pro-Democracy movement (and its violent suppression by a militarized police force) would not go beyond Denver and St. Paul. GN&S is a must-see movie of the moment. In 2004, many predicted an October Surprise would disrupt the presidential election. It didn't happen then, but it's October now and the manipulators who cry the sky is falling are the very ones who knocked it down. ...Surprise! |
