As a form of transportation, walking is pretty underrated.
Why spend an hour
to cover three miles when you could drive,
bike, or bus it in less? Well, walking
is its own reward. If Americans devoted
half the time they currently
waste watching
TV to walking instead I think we'd
see a health and cultural renaissance in the
largely
overweight and brainwashed US of
A. Walking puts one in touch with local
surroundings
and--if the phone is off--one's own thoughts.
Tonight Sarah and I walked from Fremont to
the Victory Lounge to hear Le Sang Song and The Intelligence play.
It was dry and warm
and we hung scores of Bikes are Beautiful
posters along the Burke-Gilman trail on the way.
