The funny
thing about being on Sound
Transit's artist roster is you apply
to do one thing, the proposal is accepted,
and then they ask you to do something else
entirely. It's OK, I get it. It's a big
project, there are endless variables, and
in the end what I proposed wasn't
feasible. Whatever! I was grateful to be
asked to contribute and the challenge of
having to conceive and execute a project
within strict temporal, spatial, and
conceptual limits was just what I needed
to shake me out of my recent torpor. Since
my assignment was to decorate a 4-foot
plywood star on behalf of the Cal
Anderson Park Alliance, I decided to
make something at and about the park. I
took photos from particular spots night and day and
then interpolated them. It's an idea I've
had kicking around for a while and though
this was an acceptable first attempt I'd
still like to push it further. OK?
