Clear means cold in
January Seattle.
The hundred-year-old house we live in
isn't insulated, the windows are all
single-pane.
To stem the heat bleed at least a little bit
we cut bubblewrap to size
and stick it to the glass using nothing more
than surface tension--just wipe
with damp sponge
and it clings for months.
But despite this added barrier
I managed to get out of the house today.
Took care of business the old-fashioned
way--
by walking around for hours, with stops at post
office, book
store, art
gallery, and music
venue.
The setting sunlight came
in horizontal, cast long
shadows in golden glow.
