Things lined up for us today
so we
finally dug into some of the 18 hives here.
It was a bit overdue; there was crumbling
infrastructure, just like in
human society.
We replaced bottom board fused to rotting
box. Honey harvest needs to happen soon.
These boxes were merged vertically by an
overabundance of comb which when pulled
apart spilled
honey atop the queen
excluder,
which we
scraped. It sounds severe and I
hope we did it right. It's satisfying to learn
a skill so intimately connected to survival.
Bees
are remarkable. It's inspiring getting
to know them.
