nothing breaks
life down to the essentials like travel.
what do you need?
how much can you carry? my parents fled their
homeland with two suitcases
each; today's migrants keep "go bags" by the
door for
when ICE creeps. meanwhile, we keep churning
out more shit, pumping the well dry then pissing
back into it. in a disposable society only
landfills are permanent. i packed a single bag for
our 10-day journey. the recology
artist-in-residence exhibit was near king
st. station, where we'd be catching our train east. i don't know
if the chair and table in adjacent alley were
trash or not, but they made a fit setting for this
portrait of meghan
hartwig, who i had to ask, only half-joking,
"is this a part of your show?"
