Conventional wisdom says Seattle summer starts July 5. It's usually true,
   but not this year! Not super pleasant sailing weather but Thomas had a fixed
   itinerary for a two-month cruise and I signed on to crew the first one-week leg
   so I scrubbed the rusty flaking anchor chain on the dock and filled the 40-gallon
   water tanks. We raced the tide and motored straight into the wind to Port Townsend.
