Plants surround us, infiltrating earth,
spreading green flesh from spikes to
broad leaves. they creep and never
sleep, silent, watching, their breath
twined with ours, teasing radiation
from the sun, shitting out oxygen.
Are they the enemy? am i an idiot?
armed with only a leafblower and
riot helmet i wade into the windfall,
blast them away, if not out of sight,
at least a little bit down the street.
let the sewers take them, clog
the drains, submerge this city.
