the timing was perfect for
a more literal seattle freeze.
snow here is fairly rare, and when we
do get it
it usually
melts away quickly, but here it is lingering
after almost a week. between
christmas and new year's
is
slack anyway, so all it took was some icy roads
to grind the
urban hurly-burly to a halt.
i'm okay with the glacial pace, quiet streets
and
hushed
skies, the way it must've been a century ago at
the tail end of the horse
and buggy days. we babystepped our
way down steep slippy slopes to the arboretum
where my attention branched from tiny
detail to big
picture and everything
in between.
