flagstaff
is about halfway across and one third down on this
drought map, right on the
line between moderate
drought and
merely abnormally dry.
but the well at this off-grid log cabin
near coconino
national forest is running low so for first
time
john trucked in water from a local potable filling
station, one
cent per gallon poured fresh and clean into
250-gallon totes. i
helped ream hole
and fit hose to gravity tank atop shiny tower,
my monkey arm just barely long enough to reach in and screw
down lock nut so fitting holds under trash
pump high pressure
that moved hundreds of gallons in what felt like a
minute.
but that pressure was nothing
compared to cornhole.
