    Joyce is Sarah's father's father's brother's daughter,
making her a first cousin once removed but we think
of her as an aunt. She is one of the lucky ones, lives
without internet, smart phone, or computer of any kind. Her
house is a place out of time, a museum of natural and cultural
artifacts, a still pond reflecting passing clouds. In desert mountains
at 7,000 feet, it has the air of a holy retreat, a place of purification where the sun never blinks.
