after 9 days straight of work and communal living i was eager for a little me time so i clocked out early and got in line for the 4:15 ferry back to seattle with more than an hour to spare and loitered at the bremerton terminal. if warships were rock stars, the nimitz (CVN-68) would be mick jagger: a legend that set the standard but is well past its prime. and like any celebrity, its entrance caused a stir but all i could see was the billions spent to defend these banal fashion choices.
