| today was a hot
one for heavy lifting but the sliding entry
door needed to be removed, wall jacked up, and rotted support members replaced. this house was built by an amateur and there was no way to get it all perfectly plumb and level, but "good enough" is our motto and i got everything stabilized. it was sweaty work but relief from the heat is never far away. on the short walk back from the beach, we picked the first blackberries of the season, noting the native species to be tastier than the more common invasive "Himalayan." getting the door back in entailed much grunting as daylight waned but we got it done just in time then took another dip, sun already down, basking in silence and calm. |
