spacer <<< we expected the other car next. instead, it was a black sheriff's SUV
departing the scene. no rope, yellow tape, or traffic cones, but we could
see muddy skidmarks on the lip of a sharp turn. coming closer we saw
the wrecked Celica far below, headlights popped up like the staring
eyes of a corpse. cracked windshield, deployed airbags, crumpled roof
and the torn up slope all indicated it had rolled after sliding sideways off
the no-shoulder road. "doesn't look like something you'd walk away from,"
i said. but who knows? no one seemed to be making a big deal about it. >>>
