the smoke came and went today. it started thick, lifted for a bit, rolled back in, then shifted so that our place was on the very edge of the plume as it carried southeast of the bear gulch fire--the fault of a single nitwit or arsonist. it's heartbreaking to imagine all that wildlife perishing in flame. it truly is the summer of dumber. but grim as the sky was directly above, across the street the beach was clear and calm, all hell breaking loose (at a safe distance). ...for now. |
