made the journey to seattle for belated
birthday party for climax golden twins.
i parked the prius on capitol hill, took
the #8 bus to 7th and denny, where i
waited for #5 to greenwood. i didn't
know until later, but will and rich saw
me board, just seconds too late to give
me a lift. it was a
gracious garden
gathering with obliging weather,
a lavish spread of food and drink,
victrola favorites spun at 78rpm,
and live performances of guitar,
ukulele,
and fiddle
music, including
an acoustic rendition of staying alive
by craig
and adria, which i recorded
on my phone. i wasn't going to miss
catching a ride with will and rich a
second time, and i played back the
recording as we walked to the car,
where the
streetlight caught disco
fever and set the mood by strobing. it
felt like the city itself was celebrating.
