November 4, 1994

Today was warmer than November has a right to be. Sat with Thea on rough-hewn board laid across log cross sections to form sagging bench by Vltava River next to strange concession where I bought a warm Staropramen.

Ambitionless fishermen on lunchbreak, Jeep Cherokee pulls up and gladhander buys a round, the men get in their boats, long uncut boards for oars painted to match their shallow skiffs, two stay behind & curl up for a nap. Weather-worn table covered with crumbs from bread-and-green-veiny-cheese meal, St. Vitus Cathedral lit up darkly in the distance. Took pictures of the sleeping men only to have their friend come over waking one of them who in turn said, Why not take pictures of that instead?
