This is Sarah's
family. Don't they look so normal? Throw
catfood in the pond and the catfish come up
for it, sweeping the surface with whiskers,
mouths wide open. Mini the mini dog wades in
not chasing fish but snapping up kibble. We
walked across the corn field next door after
lying around on the hilltop cemetery.
Dessicated cobs with no kernels, was it
insects, animals, birds, or microbes that ate
it away? No, it was the machine. It was a
nice, restful day. From one-lane dirt road
bridge we saw in creek a plastic bag of deer
remains.
