You don't have to go far
to leave civilization behind.
37 miles east on I-90 from
Seattle, then 10 miles up
a potholed dirt road. Went
camping with the ReStore
crew, tofu pups, bourbon,
and brew. Woke up soaked
from torrential rains, tent
in a puddle cz my ground
tarp wasn't tucked under.
I walked and shivered,
ate peanut candy by the
river then found refuge
in Mike's Toyota Corolla,
blasted the heat and fell
back asleep in reclining
front bucket seat. The 8
mile hangover hike was
green and flat, the big
rocky river and falls sang.
