Czech trains may not always run on time, but they go
everywhere for cheap. It used to take an advanced degree to make sense of
the phonebook-sized schedules, but now the internet makes it easy to research
routes and connections, see which trains take bicycles, and check for delays
(which really does come in handy since the station is only 15 minutes away
and sometimes my morning express runs one hour late).
Pozor! If you ever find yourself in the middle
of a Czech railway tunnel and a train is coming, just follow the white line
on the wall down to the nearest safety nook.... I love the simplicity
of this design--so much more effective than arrows or words.
