Steve Anderson pretty much gave me my start in the building trades. I had an interest before, but it can be an intimidating workspace to break in to when you're pretty clueless about how things get put together. He was patient, encouraging, and generous with his knowledge. So it's nice, 15 years later, to be able to return the favor by bringing him in on jobs from time to time. He's a talented artist and community organizer, but that doesn't always pay the bills. I was kind of sorry that he got stuck with the brunt of the dirty work today, but he wore the marks of his labor with a smile. |
